Are You Thinking Of Buying A Home Elevator?by Rudy Silva Send Feedback to Rudy Silva More Details about http://www.silvercross.com here.
There are four types of hydraulic elevators to choose from. Each elevator has a different drive system. Residential elevators can be hydraulic, winding drum, pneumatic or counter-weighted chain drive. To determine the right type of elevator to use in your home, you have to consider your budget, space limitations, and State code. Keep in mind that all elevator drive systems need maintenance once a year to make it functional and safe. The hydraulic elevator is the safest of all home elevators. It is also the most reliable during emergency situations such as fire and earthquakes. The hydraulic machine room is located in the basement and has a manual lowering system. The machine room must be placed on the cement foundation of the house. There are some salespersons that would discourage you from buying a hydraulic elevator, because of the hydraulic fluid smell. However, this fluid may not smell all that bad, but you need to checkout. This type of residential elevator is a little difficult to install. It takes time to install it, but, if installed properly, the hydraulic elevator is one of the best rides you can have. If you decide on this elevator, choose the hard-piped hydraulics because they do not need periodic replacement. The Overhead Winding drum home elevators do not require a machine room. Since they do not require oil, they are ideal to use, if you want to go "green" and be environment-friendly. This type of elevator is installed on of the roof and the elevator car does not require counterweights to move. The Pneumatic or Vacuum elevators are quite noisy. They also come with their own hoist and do not require a machine drive. To move the elevator car between floors, it uses a pneumatic vacuum that creates suction. Its load capacity is limited. It can carry only of two persons. Actually, this type of elevator is not ideal for handicap use. But, its installation cost is far less than the hydraulic elevator, since it does not require a machine room. Before you buy this type of home elevator, check with your State to see if this type of elevator is allowed in homes. The Counter-weighted elevator, also known as electric, is operated by counter-weights that make the elevator car suspended in a shaft. This type of residential elevator does not use oil. Its suspension system makes this elevator less safe and especially during earthquakes. If your area is prone to earthquakes, this elevator is not recommended. Elevator Company's work to make sure the installed elevator is safe. They see to it that home elevators have security systems such as emergency stop buttons, battery backup facility, door interlocks, telephone system, cable safety devices, and digital floor indicators. After installation the elevator may breakdown. There are many unforeseen reasons for this. The device could have factory defects not found by quality inspectors. People in the home could have used it improperly. Do careful inspection of the home elevator you intend to buy and, for sure, before it is installed.
