Making School Fun For Your Kid.by Thelma Ughanze Send Feedback to Thelma Ughanze Back to SchoolMore Details about Back to School here.
Dress Them Up: Before they leave the house in the morning, be sure that your child's clothing and shoes are clean and ironed. Let the clothes at least have some kind of color coordination to them. The most common thing children are teased about are their appearance. I am not saying that you should go and buy expensive name brand shirts and shoes so that your kid can be popular. But you should at least be cautious of the attire they are wearing before they get on the bus. Scars of teasing can last a lifetime. So this in the least you can do. Hair: This also is very important. Your kids hair has to look decent so that it won't be a subject of playground ridicule. Let the girls have a nice pigtails or ponytail tied up in place, and let your boys have a well groomed cut. Not only is having tamed hair good for a kids image in school, it also prevents it from distracting them while class is in session. Prepare Them: You don't want you child to be known as the "kid who never has pencil" by the other children and teachers. This is a bad reflection on you as a parent. Be sure your grade school offspring has the proper supplies they need for each day. Be sure their homework is done, the permission slips are signed, and that they have enough pens, pencils, papers and books for the whole year. That way there will be no excuses for bad grades. Let Them Mingle: To have school be more enjoyable for you kids they need friends. Encourage the building of friendships between your child and others by allowing them to talk on the phone and go to each others houses. Of course this should be done with moderation and they should always ask before leaving. But give them permission to visit they classmates outside of school. This will make for great memories when they grown up. Reward Them: Most parents tend to not take notice when their kids are doing well in school. Don't be one of those parents.Reward your child when they make good grades, have perfect attendance and have excellent conduct marks in school. This will be positive reinforcement and will encourage them to keep up the good work.
