Class A CDL students as well as many graduates of truck driver training have many unanswered questions. As instructors follow the curriculum and especially if it is a large class, sometimes the cdl questions that students may have simply never get responded to, or the student may feel intimidated and simply never ask any questions. However, I consider this a part of the training that the student is paying for...ask as many questions that come to mind. Basically, learn everything that you possibly can during your CDL training. It will only make you that much more prepared for the real world. I have received emails and phone calls from recent CDL graduates asking for my help with understanding the proper way to do the log book. It could quite possibly be that the class was a large one and it was just hard to follow for some. But, as a paying student, you should never feel left out of any aspect of the truck driver training. Any CDL questions you may have should be answered to your satisfaction before leaving the school. You have that right. Upon graduation, most graduates are faced with questions that even the most thorough and complete training facility can not prepare them for. Usually these are questions that only experience can answer, or answered by someone with years of experience. I have dedicated much time to the new cdl driver as I too was once a new driver, and there were many times I had wanted to ask someone questions, but was reluctant to, in fear of being thought of as "foolish." Never feel as if you are isolated from the rest of the class in relationship to the training. You are paying for the school and you need to receive every possible training tool that is available. Remember, once out in the real world, you will be responsible for handling a vehicle that just happens to be the biggest thing on the road. Whatever you have to do...whatever it takes...get the answers for your CDL questions. If you are a new driver and have a question out on the road, ask another driver. You'd be surprised how willing to help most are. Keep in mind, that at one point in every other drivers life, he or she was standing in the same spot that you are standing in at this moment. At one time, they had no driving experience with the big rigs, and they had to learn also by asking questions. As elementary as this may seem, finding the answers to your cdl questions will only lead you in becoming a more safe and qualified professional driver.
