E-Mail marketing is quickly catching on with businesses from all over the world. And it doesn't matter if the business is a brick and mortar shop, strictly online, or a combination of the two.

Businesses like e-mail marketing because it helps them increase revenues while actually reducing marketing expenses.

Of course, the question that comes up when a business begins to consider e-mail marketing is: "Where do we get the e-mail lists?"

Spam concerns and potential legislation make renting or purchasing e-mail lists a scary thought, at best. Make the wrong move with the wrong e-mail list and your hopes of climbing revenues will be quickly smashed. You could lose your hosting account or have your domain black-listed faster than you can say "Can-Spam Legislation".

The key to effective e-mail marketing is in generating your own targeted e-mail lists.

Many businesses already have a list of customers and often that list will include the customers' e-mail addresses.

This gives you a targeted e-mail list of paying customers that you can easily market to over and over with upsells, add-ons, related products and services, etc...

The next steps is to begin generating e-mail lists of targeted prospects; people that are interested in your offer.

The way I build my e-mail lists is by making sure that I include a subscription form on my web site.

This way, when someone visits my site, one of the first things they see is an offer to receive my free report on how AutoResponders can help them boost sales.

They request this report by submitting their name and email address. This adds them to my targeted list of prospects that I now KNOW are interested in receiving my information.

Some businesses simply invite visitors to subscribe to their e-mail lists to receive updates on special events, pricing discounts, seasonal offers, coupons, etc...
