Learning how to obtain and keep subscribers on your list! You've paid your dues with the search engines, bought software, written articles. Your wallet has been drained dry. Each subscriber who signs up from your website is worth his weight in Godiva chocolate. Subscribers aren't cheap! So once you have one, you want to make his visit with you so outstanding, so over-the-top that he'll come read your emails again and again. Right? So how do we accomplish that? According to Michael LeBoeuf, author of How to Win Customers and Keep Them for Life, 68 percent of customers stop buying from a business because of "an attitude of indifference toward the customer by the owner, manager, or some employee." He also states that the usual business loses half its customers every five years. Now, if that's not enough to scare the pants right off you, I don't know what is! But there's some good news here, too. Just by increasing the customer retention rate by 5 percent, you can increase your profits 25-100 percent. No wonder wise marketers treat their customers like gold. They strive for stellar customer service, knowing that word of mouth travels fast. A reputation for above and beyond service sets you apart from your competitors -- in many cases, miles apart! It's the same with getting your subscriber to want to open your emails. You can't just send out the same old offers and expect to create a trusting relationship. You'll end up with a number of people who supposedly subscribe to your list. But that's all it is - a number. Same-old, same-old marketing produces indifference. Too many others are doing that. You have to set yourself apart. One way to accomplish this is to write from your heart and communicate to your subscribers from a standpoint of "these are my dear friends". That personal touch will come through -- who you are will shine through your words and touch the reader. The end result will be a group of folks who rush to open your emails first. Taking time to build relationship is worth the effort. If you build real relationship with your subscribers, you'll get repeat business and word-of-mouth referrals. It's a lot easier to nurture the relationships you have than to go out and recruit new leads. By learning how to obtain and keep subscribers on your list, you build a foundation for a lasting online business.
