First, the fact that a truck driver's sleep schedule is probably one of the most erratic and inconsistent when compared to the hundreds of other occupations. Drivers can not plan on "when to sleep" because their next pick up is not known until their last or most recent drop off. Drivers also do not know in advance how many miles their next load will take them, nor will they know if the unload drop off will be on time. Many drivers have spent countless "awake" hours waiting at destination to drop off their load, adding to the already many hours they spent driving to this destination. This unusual sleep pattern has caused drivers problems such as lack of alertness, insomnia, anxiety, and lack of energy.

Next, driving so many hours per day and consistently maintaining a rigid schedule to make the next appointment, has almost eliminated the ability for a truck driver to plan on an exercise routine. Add poor eating habits to this, and you have a combination which is most devastating to the body. It is not uncommon for drivers to eventually establish numerous health issues early on in their life such as, diabetes, arthritis, joint pain, poor circulation, heart problems, and high cholesterol. It appears that the aging process for truck drivers is accelerated by this very difficult lifestyle.

Glutathione is an amino acid chain which is naturally produced within the cells of our body. It acts as a cell protector and engages in many of the daily cellular biochemical activities needed for the body to protect and repair itself. It also plays a major part in the body's immune system which is required to fight disease and illness. Not only that, but it acts as a powerful antioxidant and detoxifier within the body. The problem is, as we age, our body's ability to produce glutathione decreases. Actually this decrease begins at about age 20. Unfortunately, this is about the age that many CDL drivers begin their truck driving career.

For years now the health food industry has been aware of the much needed glutathione that people require in order to maintain or even compensate for their own inadequate glutathione levels. People have been buying glutathione orally for years as a supplement for arthritis and joint pain as well as an antioxidant, detoxifier, and immune system accelerator. The problem with taking glutathione orally is that the actual molecule of glutathione is destroyed once it reaches your digestive system. Some who have realized this have even tried taking the drug intravenously or through nasal sprays. These methods do have more success than taking glutathione orally, but can be quite costly.
