So many times we go around looking for someone to love us. Everyday around the world we wake up, collectively, and go to work, stay at home, attend school, visit hospitals, or communicate somehow with others. And in a day’s time, we still look for someone to love on us.
But how do we know when love has visited us? Are there signs?
I was sooooo bent on the person in my relationship to “give me” the love and respect, I thought I deserved until I missed all the other opportunities that came. I did not realize that love had a face! Let’s explore this some more.
When I was fussing over small things and trying to manipulate the relationship by conveniently placing tracts, turning the TV to Bishop Eddie Long, subscribing to Christian Men’s Magazine (for him), or reading loud enough to have been a narrator for the Bible on Tape, I became blind…Thank God for deliverance!
You see, my part and your part or role is to live the Word that we know. And do it to the glory of God.
Love is not witchcraft. Love is not physic prayers chanted over a person to break their will, ha! Nor is it scheming up ways to trick or bribe or blackmail them! Ha! Ha!
When we do anything with a pure heart, pure motive and clear conscience, God make sure we are rewarded. He promise and His Word is good for it.
If we sow love, it will return to us. It may not come in the way or method we think, but it comes.
Think back, when you needed a friend…someone was sent directly in your path to say, “I love you.” Or the phone rang and the caller had the wrong number, but spoke the right words…just for you.
More often than not, we are surrounded by love, but ignore the source we can see…do you understand? We often want it how we want it and have a “special” person in mind…you know exactly what I am talking about, yes? I thought so (smile).
On the way to work, a driver let you in front and waved, “I love you.” That kind of love has a face.
At school, you just got some disappointing news, and someone came and gave you a hug that felt like, “I love you.” That kind of love has a face.
While at the grocery store, you left your “real” money at home, and someone offers to pay for your items and say, “I love you.” That kind of love has a face.
On your way home, the gas hand is talking in all languages…fumes…and you pull into a place just in time to miss traffic. Someone comes over and offers to fill your tank and leave you with a crisp twenty- dollar bill, which says, “I love you.” That kind of love has a face.
Just when you think the worst has happened; you come across others who have every right to be bitter and angry, but they share a story of how to overcome. You hear the message and receive the lesson, which is wrapped in love. That kind of love has a face.
You are the caregiver of a dear relative and just when you think things are about to get better, something else comes along to add to your load. In the middle of all of this you get a piece of mail that reaches out and touch you from your heart to your bone marrow. That kind of love gives you the needed fuel to continue. That kind of love has a face.
You are in debt and the bills are piling high. You check your voice messages and there, one person spoke a word that changes everything. You get a check in the mail, just in time! That kind of love has a face.
In bed you toss and turn over and over. Sleep just will not come to you and then the phone rings. It is your prayer partner checking up on you. Afterwards, you are sound to sleep. That kind of love has a face.
Something is bothering you, but you hesitate to say anything about it to anyone. The very next day, someone, who is a complete stranger approaches you, and hands you a “gift”. It is the exact thing that you were in need of. That kind of love has a face.
You know that you are innocent, but false accusations have been made against you. Time seems to come to a halt as you patiently a wait the final outcome.
Then a miracle happens. Someone who knows someone who knows of your situation knows Almighty God and all the charges are dropped. That kind of love has a face.
So the next time you encounter someone who is sent directly to you, thank him or her.
And give God all the praise and glory. You may be looking for love in another, but He sent that one to you, wrapped in His love…(smile)
God shows Himself in many forms and always leaves the same trademark. You just know! And you are not ashamed to let the tears of joy flow…Love has touched you.
Love has a face. His name is Jesus! He is perfect love. Absorb Him and allow his love to consume you…let it flow from your heart to others.
Look for him in the face of someone. Maybe the one closest to you, look again…with new eyes.
Until we talk again, Focus on whatever God has spoken to you and keep sowing love as a gift.
