Migraines are a biological disease highlighted by intense throbbing pain often on one side of the head, occasionally accompanied by sensitivity to light, sound and nausea. There are some very simple and effective migraine headache relief measures which can alleviate the suffering and pain. For immediate migraine headache relief , there are some treatments you can undergo. The best thing to do is to have a shower or bath and just cool off. Darken the room; dim the lights and just lie down to rest. You will be sensitive to the light so avoid dazzling and bright lights in the room. Put a wet, cold cloth at the back of you neck to ease the tense muscles. Hydrate yourself with some orange juice or tomato juice or just some plain water. Have some nutritious foods, give yourself something to eat. Bananas are worth mentioning here for their migraine fighting abilities. Massage your head, neck, face and shoulders to relax the muscles. Apply pressure on two pressure points on the back of your neck. This helps relieve pain as endorphins are released. Cancel activities and avoid all kinds of stresses and tensions. While exercise should be avoided during an attack, an exercise regimen should be followed generally as it improves health. Take small, safe amounts of niacin, which releases a flush of blood to the skin and gives relief from headaches. You can try some over the counter drugs like aspirin or ibuprofen, which are effective against migraines. However, if your headache persists, do consult a doctor who will provide you further migraine headache relief packages.
