It occurred to me at that moment I was definitely not appreciating the beautiful home I would soon be occupying, nor was I appreciating my life. In fact, I felt down right annoyed! As I became aware that I was clearly wasting time listening to what my ego didn't want to do, I was able to release the chatter and move towards what made me feel better, which was appreciating the results of my work and my new home. When I began to feel better, I could see a different perspective.
So how do you get into the place where you can feel better? The following steps helped me, and will help you, release what is keeping you from feeling happy and loving your life.
5 Tips to Bring You Into Clarity About Loving Your Life
1. Awareness
Learn to be aware of how you feel, when you notice your mind start chattering. Mind chatter has been called "monkey mind" because it's constantly jumping from one subject to another. Notice what your monkey mind is saying and think about whether you really agree with it or not, or even want to listen to it...
2. Take a break
Stop, take a break, look around you and focus on what's good about your life right NOW. Your monkey mind tends to want to remind you of what happened in the past and what might happen in the future.
3. Look at the big picture
Turn your attention to the outcome of what you're doing or what you want to accomplish. How will you feel when it's done? Will you be happy with the outcome if you let your monkey mind control you? I focused on the beautiful home I would be moving into, and realized that I would not feel as good about living there if I cut corners and did a job that was "less than".
4. Hold the vision
Allow your mind to stay focused on how good you'll feel when you reach the outcome you really want. As I worked at our new house daily I could easily envision how wonderful it would be when it was all done. Think and talk about what you want. Look for it everywhere. Make a real effort to be congruent in what you think, say, and do.
5. Allow these steps to unfold naturally
As your awareness of your monkey mind grows, these steps will begin to unfold naturally. You will notice when you aren't feeling as good as you want to, and you'll begin to naturally reach for better feeling thoughts, which will in turn lead to a happier life!
"See, hear, talk about, and read only what you want and never again let a negative thought come into your mind."
