Yes, I, too, have been known to be a strong willed child. However, I am no longer self-ruled, but Spirit-led. There is a difference.

Let us dig into the scriptures and discover the ways of a child of love vs. a child of self-ruled. We will first go to Romans 5:5 where we discover the love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. God is love; therefore, you are child of love. I am a child of love.

And although it is available to all of us, we have a choice to accept or refuse God's kind of love. Today I share a proven method to sharpen our love walk. It has been and continues to be a monitor for me. I hope it will help you as well.

Let us now use 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a to dig deeper and get to the root of our topic. Just how does a strong willed person change to one of love and not one of selfishness-self-ruled?

Do you know that a strong willed child grows up into a strong willed adult? Unless the love of God is allowed to be an active, vital part of life, the results may be a strong willed spiritual Son-who is mature in the things of God and Spirit-led, but does not follow the voice of the Holy Spirit?

Let me say it so we all can get it and make corrections. It is possible for anyone of us to be saved, spirit-filled and still ignore God!!! Ummmmmmm.

What are the symptoms of a child of God who is still being self-ruled? What is the one true remedy from the word of God? So glad you asked! Keep reading.

Let us break it down in sections so we may better see and identify anything we have overlooked in our love walk with God, others and ourselves. Look at 1 Corinthians 4-8a-personalized, just for you.

Section One Symptoms: You challenge and rebel against every form of authority; both God's and man's. You must have it your way or you get extremely upset. You are very controlling and love to manipulate things and people to gain the upper hand. You strive on starting arguments to prove your point of view. You must be right all the time.

Section One Remedy from the word of God. I am very patient and kind. I have good manners. I am never rude. I am never selfish. I do not insist upon having my own will.

Stop here. Deal with this right here and now. Is this you? Then choose the remedy from the word of God and allow it to become a part of you.

Section Two Symptoms: You feel as though you have been left out of God's circle of blessing. You, therefore, are jealous, envy, full of pride; very boastful and feel insecure within.

Section Two Remedy from the word of God: I refrain from boasting. I am never puffed with pride. I do not look down upon others. I am not jealous of others' good fortune.

Once again, choose what you want and include it as part of your lifestyle. Unless you decide; the same old symptoms will remain.

Section Three Symptoms: A root of bitterness, which grows around the heart to tie and hold you in captivity, the inability to forgive others or yourself, revenge, getting even, cursing, wishing harm on others, bad mouthing, critical tongue and thoughts of doing bodily harm.

Section Three remedy from the word of God: I do not hold grudges and hardly even notice if others do me wrong. I do not remember wrongs done against me. I do not nurse hurt feelings. I do not harbor revenge. I do not yield o anger or hate. I never get provoked. I am never irritated and never resentful. I can stand any kind of treatment. I have power to endue anything.

Halt! Back up! Stop! Did you read where it says, " I have power to endure anything?" Gasp! What a discovery. God gives us power. His power of love is what we ought to use. OOOOOOOOOOOOH!

Section Four Symptoms: Exposing the flaws and faults of others to make you look good or to impress others.

Section Four Remedy from the word of God: I am never glad to see others go wrong. I am loyal no matter what the cost. I stand true through every trouble. I always believe in people, always expect the best of them, and always stand my ground in defending them. I do not expose the faults of others.

Take inventory of your heart. Is this you? Do you look at certain people based on color, alone, and pre-judge them or believe they are not as good as another race of people? Whew! This is a hot one!!!!!

Once, again, you must choose love and add it to your life. Otherwise, you keep the old ways of thinking and living. You must break the cycle.

Section Five Symptoms: Telling you and others that a situation is hopeless; that you or others are hopeless; or to say words that will break the spirit and cause hopelessness to come.

Section Five Remedy from the word of God: I know how to be silent. I always protect. I am eager to believe the best about everybody. I never regard anyone as hopeless.

Stop and deal with this if it is part of you. Make the needed change in your lifestyle.

Section Five Symptoms: Telling you and others that life is just too hard to live; there is no reason to get up in the mornings; no reason to laugh; no reason to do better or expect things to ever get better.

Section Five Remedy from the word of God: I persevere in all circumstances. There is nothing I cannot face; there is no limit to my faith, my hope, and my endurance. I never give up. I never fail.

There it is! All sliced, diced and laid out in front of you. Now you choose and decide the lifestyle most pleasing to God. That way, you and others will benefit, as well. You are a child of love; so do it!

Keep your love walk razor sharp by obeying the Word. Put it to the test by applying it daily. If you make a mistake, repent, apologize and keep at it until love becomes a lifestyle and your trademark.

Remember, you are already empowered to love, just act like you are.
