Small Changes Make A BIG Differenceby Debbye Cannon Send Feedback to Debbye Cannon organizeMore Details about organize here.
Like this story, I find that the differnce between success and failure is often the matter of a few degrees.... the small things. That is exactly why I look for the SMARTcutsTM. These are not "get over easy" schemes, but simple ways to work and play smart so that life has more room for abundance. It's smart to get the "have to do" things off your list quickly and easily so there is more time and energy left for the "I'd love to do" things....like a watching your children's sports, a romantic dinner with your sweetheart, quiet time for reading a good book. Time is a constant. We can't create more. We can only use the time we have to our best advantage. One way to simplify is by making decisions in advance, for example I have a set menu (ingredients on my shelf) for a meal to take out to another family when called upon. I have decided in advance my meals for my family and put them in an "auto pilot" system. I have my system numbered to correspond with my receipe book so someone else can help with the cooking. Another SMARTcut technique is to change some routine habits. These are often just doing things the way everybody else does that really don't serve us well. For example, I don't fold underwear in the drawer (true confession). I have never see the "underwear police" knock on my door, either! In fact, years ago I began having family members be responsible for their own laundry. Since the age of 8 our children have been taking care of their own laundry. To me, this is just one more important part of helping my children to become independent. I hope you will use creativity to simplify your life. Join me in "living outside the box"and finding ways that work, instead of the same old ways. As Dr. Phill would say, "How's that working for you?"
