When it comes to my work, I'm a perfectionist. I'm guessing you have that tendency, too. Although that's a useful trait in some circumstances, when it comes to marketing "stuff" -- things like articles, blog posts, programs and products -- wanting everything to be exactly "right" prevents us from taking that final essential step: releasing our work out into the world. The title of this article -- an oft repeated direct quote from my first marketing coach -- has become one of my most important "marketing mantras". Let's face it -- if we don't let go of whatever we're creating and put it out there, our potential ideal customers won't ever see it, read it, hear it or experience it. If they don't, they'll never know how we can help them, and they won't BECOME our happy -- and paying -- customers. So here's this week's "15 Minute Marketer" call to action: Spend 15 minutes a day reviewing what you have created, are creating or want to create. Pay attention to your self-talk as you do this. Notice whatever excuses or justifications you're telling yourself as to why you have not put this out into the world. Start substituting "DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT" in your mind. Say it over and over again -- make it your motto for the week! Then, choose ONE thing to do -- an article, a blog post, a phone call. Whatever it is, commit to 'setting it free'. If there are some minor adjustments, give yourself a short time limit (perhaps one more hour of editing), and then take a deep breath and put it out there! Publish it, post it, make the phone call. To borrow a great marketing phrase: JUST DO IT! "The more you do, the more you are." ~ Angie Papadakis ***************************** This is a reprint from Nancy Gerber's free weekly article series, "The 15 Minute Marketer".
