network marketing

More Details about network marketing here.

There are few industries that ignite the passion as does the industry of network marketing. There is rarely a middle ground. Most people clearly pick a camp. It's the best industry in the world or is the worst thing in the world. Having always surrounded myself with smart, successful and opinionated friends, I have heard many points, examples and rational for both sides of the argument. I believe that I see clearly why multi-level marketing (MLM), or network marketing, moves emotion.

1. It highlights the need to be re-educated.

The vast majority of people are resistant to change, especially slow change that requires effort. Because network marketing is an actual industry, it requires a level of learned skill--as every other industry does; people don't like it. If a mechanic decides that he wants to be a nurse, it's assumed that he must go through a training/education and possibly certification process to be successful in the NEW industry. The same assumption holds true for people making any type of career change--except moving into network marketing. For some strange and totally illogical reason, people that decide to enter the NEW industry do so believing that their regular industry has prepared them to be successful in MLM. Others believe that they can spend an hour or two and learn what is needed to be successful in an industry totally new to them. Perhaps it's because the cost to get involved is so low compared to college, tech degrees and certifications, etc. Nonetheless, people refuse to view it as real industry even when, in many cases, the MLM company is more successful than the company that employs them.

People hate MLM because they must really take the time and apply the effort to learn something new.

2. The unfair equalizer.

MLM companies require no special education, degrees, social status, credit rating, test scores or interview to participate. There is no recognition of privilege or pedigree. All success comes from results--nothing else. This scares the heck out of many. The well educated, "successful," smart, rich, etc. all start the same place as their social opposites. You can't hide behind a pretty diploma from a great school, or you can't hide behind great words and appearances. MLM is a put up or shut up environment. You have to demonstrate real value, ability and leadership. There are few people that are excited about seeing how they stack up in a global casting call. Don't get me wrong, corporate America is tough and challenging; but for many the limits in a career have less to do with their production than it does with other people's opinions. In corporate America there is power and authority . . . for some.

People hate MLM because there is no place to hide from your real performance.

3. Standing naked.

This is a big one. When you launch a MLM business you have to tell family and friends. You don't have to try and sell them anything, but just as if you opened a new restaurant you have to let them know. People fear this because the whole world (well it feels like it) gets to watch you say what you are going to do with the business. They, in most cases, will not volunteer to help--and why should they, it's not their dream. For a large group of people they get to declare to the world that they are in business and then do nothing, showing the world that they are just talkers--just dreamers. And then the MLMers are trapped by their own lack of action. If they say the company didn't work, then they look silly for not recognizing a bad deal. If they say they didn't really work it (which few admit to), then they are not serious, are flighty or lazy.

People hate MLM because they know that the world will know what they have done or not done.

4. Ugly duckling.

I think the final big reason that people hate MLM may actually be the biggest. When you decide to do something different to dramatically change your condition, you are silently screaming to those around you that what you have (which is usually the same as what your friends have) is not enough. That you deserve more. Well, in defense of their lack of courage to join you in your quest to be more, most people opt to defend who and where they are. They must condemn the vehicle for change or admit that the vehicle is valid, but THEY don't have what it takes to try . . . .to try! Because that is all one declares to do when they pick up the banner of a MLM . . . to try. There are very few acceptable reasons as to why one would not even try something that has great promise. The bravest act a coward might do may be to defend his act of cowardice.

Why do I use such hard terms? Because most of people language is filled with complaints, negative perception and what ifs--some days . . . but they take no action towards changing anything. Here in the land of opportunity many would ridicule a person TRYING to build a bridge to a truly fantastic life, while they take zero action for change outside of what they have to do for their job.

All good MLM companies require production; they require teamwork; they require selflessness; they require passion; they require faith in others, and they require PERSONAL GROWTH.

People hate MLM because in this great country of opportunity, of capitalism, of no borders, of free speech and unlimited information, MLM is the clearest mirror on the wall that will always show you who you are, in spite of where you come from, what you look like, and what you say.

With great passion, I, like others, have chosen sides; and every day into the mirror I look; so far I like the smile.
