When working for online clients, as in the usual businesses it is recommended to ask 50 percent in advance for your work and the rest at the completion. Take good care of dealing with clients who seeks problems where they are not because they will not want to give you the final amounts of money. Try to communicate with the clients every time and for every issue including delays, schedule changes and technical issues.
The types of clients you will encounter can be split in these categories:
1. the obsessive-compulsive - they will ask you many drafts and changes and it will take long until they will be satisfied;
2. the codependent - they will be very friendly with you but will not accept anything different then their personal view on the matters discussed;
3. the objectifying client - for them everything is technical, without the human touch and they will need all the task being done... yesterday;
4. the ones with and addictive personality - they will change lots of time the object of work during the contract and will be very difficult to be pleased;
Usually the tone of writing requested will be for mass-market appeal, this meaning without a lot of creativity and high quality content - just basic to be understood by everybody.
Most of the orders are for specialised ebooks, articles and blog posts. You will need a few specialisations but don't rely on them because it is possible that the market to change and your specializations to be off the market. In your activity it will be needed consistency and when you start something to also finish it in a reasonable time frame. Also be very organized to be able to handle multiple projects in the same time.
