Use Color to Your Advantageby Toni Johnson Send Feedback to Toni Johnson black and white dressingMore Details about black and white dressing here.
Feature Articles: I love dressing in black and white as do so many people. My preference is tailored black pants and a crisp white shirt. It can take you anywhere. I've also been seen in white pants and black V neck t-shirt. My point is, black and white clothes are easy to put together and they look good. Don't get me wrong, I'm obsessed with color - bold, bright and rich jewel tones. Red is my all time favorite, green comes in a close second, while yellow, ocean blue and chocolate brown are close runners-up. Some say grey is not a color, but oh contraire! In fashion, grey looks sensational paired with soft pink for a classic look. Grey teamed with a rich red and you have a powerful color combination that will have the boardroom at their knees. Pearl grey with sapphire blue is killer. Dove grey with canary yellow says you are approachable but business-like. Grayish-green paired with emerald green says you want to be taken seriously. Black. Enough said. What can't you wear with black? White - same question. Black and white is natural - you must begin there. Color evolves from black and white. The little black dress is a staple in a woman's wardrobe. A white wedding dress is the number one choice for brides-to-be. It's primal. And chocolate brown... what a color! A few years ago, the fashion world said chocolate brown is the new black. Personally, I don't think chocolate brown should replace black, I enjoy using both of these neutrals when coordinating an outfit. Chocolate brown as a base color is fabulous paired with lime green, corals, pale blues and pinks. As an adult in the advertising sales world, I purchased a chocolate brown tailored power suit and believed I could conquer the world. I wore different colored tops and camisoles underneath, added jewelry and other accessories and wah-la.. A totally different look each time. You can do the same with black and white. Add your color with jewelry and accessories. By adding one of a kind, handcrafted jewelry from Indie artists you not only support small businesses, but you will add impact to your wardrobe and stand out from the crowd. So go ahead, purchase the basic white shirt black pants that you love and feel comfortable in. Be sure to purchase the clothes that look good on your body, your frame and slightly fitted. You'll make such a difference with that one outfit by adding jewelry, shoes and a cool handbag. Color can have an impact on your mood. Must we choose a favorite color? Don't you think each day might determine your favorite color, depending on your mood? Color. Take it in. Embrace it. Use it.
