As I sit here this morning, reading my bible and reflecting on the goodness and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus, I was reminded of a phone call I got the other day. My Nephew came for Christmas dinner. He has a daughter named Skylar and she is just precious. When they got ready to leave, she was cold and sleepy and they asked if I had a blanket they could borrow to wrap her in. I got a blanket and wrapped it around her. My nephew called after a couple of days and said, I am having trouble getting the blanket from Skylar. She says it is her blanket, her memaw gave it to her and they can't have it. They said she carries the blanket everywhere she goes. How tickled I am that this child has received this blanket as a gift and treasures it enough to fight to keep it. While I am thinking about this, I remembered that the bible says in James 1:17 Every good action and every perfect gift is from God. These good gifts come down from the Creator of the sun, moon, and stars, who does not change like their shifting shadows. The bible outlines the types of gifts that God gives us. Below are just a few examples of scripture that outlines some of the gifts God has given us. In Psalm 127:3 Children are a gift from the Lord; babies are a reward in Psalm 136:21 He gave their land as a gift. His love continues forever Proverbs 19:14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a wise wife is a gift from the Lord We were given spiritual gifts, like the gift of teaching, encouraging and service and administration to help us build the church. We were given the gift of the word of God to teach us, to encourage us, to correct us and to help us to know Gods will for our lives, but more than any of the gifts that have been given to any of us through our Father God, is the gift of Life through Jesus Christ our Savior. In John 4:10 Jesus says "If you only knew the free gift of God and who it is that is asking you for water, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water." Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life" The free gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ and the life of freedom that comes to us through him is greater than any of the gifts that we receive. When the enemy comes in and tries to steal from you, I pray that you and I will be like Skylar. We will say NO! My life, my ministry, my children or whatever else it is that he is trying to steal from us is a gift from God and he can not have it! I pray that we will be able to run to his word, find the truth and allow that truth to set us free. I pray that we will remember the words that Jesus said, In this world you will have trouble, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world! What ever we face, Jesus goes through it with us and through him, we have life, peace, love and joy and nobody can take that away from us! Have a blessed and wonderful day!
Iam passionate about the love of Jesus and the things that He has done in my life and I am so excited that I have to share with the world what He has done, not only in my life, but in others lives as well.
