Have you ever thought about the simple things that we do on a daily basis that are truly gifts from God? Simple things like a little hug can make such a deep impact on a persons life. Not to long ago, a lady came into my work looking for assistance with a light bill. When I told her, I am sorry, we have no more money, we will not be able to help you today, she broke down in tears. I asked her, may I hug you? She answered, yes please! You see, her husband had just left her, she had no family in this area and she has several kids that will be with out if she is not able to find help for this bill. I hugged her and prayed with her and she just cried and cried. When she was able to regain her composure, she said thank you. It has been such a long time since anybody has hugged me and told me they cared. Thank you so much for your hug. I had the pleasure of seeing a wonderful friend the other day. I was running late for a meeting and rushed in to get seated. When I walked in and went to give her a hug, she wrapped her arms around me so tightly and just held on. When I went to pull away, she just squeezed again and I held on too. While I am in her arms, receiving a deep embrace from my friend, the words of Psalm 46:10 came to mind, "God says, "Be still and know that I am God. I will be praised in all the nations; I will be praised throughout the earth." With that, I was able to calm down, slow down and be ready to receive what I was supposed to receive in that meeting. As I think about this special moment with my friend, and as I think about this young lady who just needed to feel that somebody cared and a simple hug meant so much, I find myself wondering, Lord, how often do you want to take the time to just embrace me and tell you how much you love me that I am in a hurry and pull away from you in order to complete the task on my to do list? Lord, how often, do I miss the opportunity to give your love away to somebody who just needs a simple hug and hear your words, just be still and know that I am God. Our wonderful Lord and Savior gave each of us special gifts to use for his kingdom, to bless his people. He has given us talents and tender hearts and special words for just the right time. When we use these gifts, to give such simple things as a deep embrace to a friend, or a gentle hug to a person hurting and lonely and scared, our acts of kindness causes Gods name to be praised and his love to be felt through us. I wonder if you are using the simple gifts that God has given you to give to others. You would be surprised how special they are to those who receive them. Praying that your day is blessed and that you see the mighty wonderful works of God in your day today. Praying that you are blessed in all that you do and all that all of your needs are met today by His divine provision. Praying that the light of Jesus shines through you today to touch the hearts of all those around you and that the love of Jesus overflows in your spirit to let them see Jesus in you today.
Iam passionate about the love of Jesus and the things that He has done in my life and I am so excited that I have to share with the world what He has done, not only in my life, but in others lives as well.
