It's no secret that everyone is looking for tips on cutting costs--especially business costs. You don't want to get rid of the tools you need to really run your business. But sometimes necessities aren't as necessary as we think. Do You Really Need That Fax Line? Look at the equipment and services you're using. Do you really need a designated phone line for your fax machine? Do you even need a fax machine at all? Nowadays, you can often receive faxes through email, but if you just can't do without a fax at all, there are online fax services available for a nominal monthly fee. This not only eliminates one more piece of equipment but gives you the freedom to receive faxes from anywhere in the world. - Joyce Moseley Pierce emergency preparedness expert Cutting Costs Commodity Barter or Trade System - Gather friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers and set up a bartering or trading system. Exchange service for service--build websites, write or create video content, snap digital photos, help with internet marketing, etc. You would be amazed at the opportunities and the money that can be saved using an exchange system. Cease Competing with Everyone - You do not have to compete with anyone. Be proud of your business, of what you have and who you are. Focus on offering the best you can. - Diana Barnum ghost writer expert Make a List and Check It Twice Make a list of your business expenditures and verify that you need all of them. Secondly, check to see if you can save money on any that are listed. For example, many people still pay upwards of $25.00 - $35.00 a year for a domain registration when they could be paying less than $9.00 a year. Another example, the cable companies are hurting for business right now. Call them up and see what specials or plans are available which suite your needs yet lower your monthly premium. - Bruce Galle, Domain Names Expert Common Business Costs You Can Reduce Do you have multiple websites? Are they hosted each on their own hosting account? If so you are paying for space/bandwidth you don't need! Talk to your webmaster -- it is possible to host multiple websites on one hosting account, using add-on domains, sub-domains, etc. Your webmaster can help you set this up. Are you paying for a monthly membership or services that you aren't using? If you are telling yourself you're going to use it but haven't for 2 or more months, it's time to cancel. You can always rejoin when you really have time to dedicate to that activity. Are you paying monthly fees to stay in a network marketing "opportunity" that isn't paying for itself? If you aren't clearly profitable within six months, it's time to stop the cash outflow. - Terri Zwierzynski self-employment expert Take a look at what your business costs really are. Then, using these expert tips, see if you can cut some costs to improve your overhead. As my mother would say, "Every little bit counts."
