Singles Survival Guide To Christmas
Christmas is just around the corner and if you're starting to feel the loneliness of being single getting to you then I've got a few tips to help you through. I remember one year spending Christmas on my own wrapped up under a blanket on the sofa with just the TV and chocolate for company. I even cooked myself a Christmas dinner which lasted for 5 days (have you ever tried to cook Christmas dinner for one?!) . . . . Well, that one was enough for me and from there I vowed never to do that again. Still finding myself single the next Christmas I decided there really was no point in feeling sorry for myself so I set about finding what else I could do and I volunteered for a homeless charity for 5 days in London, met some great people and really had a fantastic time. For the next 5 years I was out in India volunteering for a street children's charity and again, these were amongst the most amazing Christmas's I've ever had. Remember, Christmas is a lonely time for so many people but you do have choices: You can . . . * Stay home alone but if you decide to do this don't feel sorry for yourself, be grateful for everything you do have and enjoy the peace, relaxation and the great TV! * Find organisations that need your help and meet new like minded people . . . you never know who you'll meet after all ? * Book an activity or singles holiday and get away from it all * Spend time with family and friends * Invite other single friends over for drinks and reach out to anyone else you know may be feeling lonely Yes, of course it's lovely to be in love at Christmas, but if that hasn't happened for you yet then there really are plenty of opportunities to still have fun and not to be on your own. Oh . . . And you MUST decorate your home and put up a tree. Go the extra mile to make your surroundings feel special and festive. Celebrate, and be thankful for all the good things in your life and then go out and make 2010 the year you find love!
