More Iranian plots against Israel and a warning from the Sanhedrin Written: 11-04-2009 Rapture Forum Staff: Chris

Welcome to this edition of the Rapture Report for 11/4/2009. Today we will look at several interesting developments in the Middle East including the recent seizure of several hundred tons of armed weapons heading for Lebanon and the terrorist organization Hezbollah. The Haaretz news website is reporting that:

Israel Navy Chief Brig. Gen. Rani Ben-Yehuda said Wednesday that an arms ship seized near Cyprus earlier in the day had been carrying hundreds of tons of weapons. Israeli commandos seized the ship before dawn on Wednesday and defense officials said it had been carrying missiles and rockets bound for Lebanon's Iranian-backed Hezbollah guerrillas, believed to have come from Iran. Israel and Hezbollah fought a bitter war in the summer of 2006 that ended with a United Nations-brokered cease-fire, but occasional flare-ups occur. The Israeli are not new to arms interception tactics as they had previously intercepted arms headed for terrorist groups on a ship called the "Karine A" back in 2002. Of course the Syrians had to get involved in the affair and make contradictory statements like the ship was heading from Syria to Iran, despite the fact that according to the Israelis the ship was heading in the opposite direction. As we know, you can't believe a single word that comes out of the mouths of the Islamic puppetmasters in Syria, Iran, etc. The Haaretz article went on to further state:

In Tehran, Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem dismissed Israeli allegations the ship carried arms. "Unfortunately, some pirates sometimes take action in the name of inspection and prevent the sailing of commercial ships," he was quoted as saying by the state IRNA news agency during a visit Wednesday. "This ship was carrying goods from Syria heading to Iran and was not carrying weapons making materials." It was unclear why Moallem said the ship was headed in the opposite direction of that claimed by Israel. Syrian officials were not immediately available for comment in Damascus. To me, this arms interception shows the magnitude and sophistication of arms that are currently being moved around the Middle East and onto the borders of Israel in anticipation of a conflict. Just the other day we heard that the Palestinian terrorists have missiles that are capable of reaching Tel Aviv. In a Jerusalem Post article it was reported:

The Tel Aviv area could become the newest target for rockets launched from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, Military Intelligence chief Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin said Tuesday morning during a briefing of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Yadlin said that the IDF had identified at least one test firing in which Hamas had successfully launched a rocket with a 60-kilometer range into the Mediterranean Sea. He went on to say he was concerned Hamas had smuggled in Fajr-style rockets, an Iranian-produced artillery rocket that was also used by Hizbullah during the Second Lebanon War. It was not clear whether he meant the Fajr 3, which has a maximum listed range of approximately 50 kilometers or the Fajr 5, which can reach upwards of 70 kilometers. In response to Yadlin's warning, Hamas said on Tuesday that it would neither confirm nor deny reports about the new long-range missile. Hamas for their part would neither confirm or deny the reports but nevertheless were pretty critical of Israel and the reports. To me, with the current military exercises between the US and Israel, the recent seizure of a massive amount of arms heading towards the borders of Israel, it is pretty easy to see that the region is heading towards conflict and could very well become heated pretty soon. Students of Bible prophecy who are aware of the ancient prophecies foretold by Isaiah 17, Psalm 83, and Ezekiel 38-39 can easily see that the chess board is being set up for their fulfillment. I believe it is highly possible that we could be seeing the region bracing for a major conflict as the peace process has basically some to standstill. And another interesting aspect about all of this is that this is happening at a time when Iran is practically at the finish line for their illegal nuclear program. It would not surprise me that Iran could be intentionally ratcheting up the pressure and tension in the region in order to try to take the focus off their own illegal activities. I do not believe for a second that the Israelis will take their eyes off Iran. I believe they are watching very carefully as the situation is developing on the ground.

One final issue that is ongoing in Israel and in the UN is that of the heated "Goldstone" report. The Goldstone report is an anti-semitic piece of garbage that was written by people who had previously denounced Israel long before ever being appointed to the Goldstone committee to "investigate" the "Operation Cast Lead" military effort for possible "war crimes". This in effect means that they had already pre-judged Israel before being put on a committee to decide if there were human rights or international law violations by either side of the conflict. To make the "Goldstone" report more controversial, the Israeli Sanhedrin stepped into the middle of the situation and denounce the report by saying that the the UN report would bring about the judgment of God against the UN. The Israel National News website reports:

The Sanhedrin has warned the UN General Assembly not to hold a plenum debate this Wednesday on the anti-Israel Goldstone Report. In a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and the UN's member states, the Sanhedrin warns that continued consideration of what it calls the "hostile, fallacious, and malicious" Goldstone document will bring upon the world the catastrophic events described in the Bible's Book of Joel, Chapter 4. The Goldstone commission found Israel guilty of committing war crimes during its anti-terror Cast Lead offensive in Gaza early this year. Many in Israel feel that the commission's purpose was to categorize Israel's attempt to fight the same terrorist threat that threatens the entire world as "war crimes." The Sanhedrin is an initiative of recent years to recreate the traditional supreme legal tribunal in Judaism. The Sanhedrin went on to explain their views and why they felt a need to rebuke the UN:

The Sanhedrin then explained by what authority it issues injunctions to the United Nations: "The International Court of the Sanhedrin operates by the power of the Bible, the only Holy Writ whose essence was handed over to mankind at Mt. Sinai [the Torah], and of the Prophets, sent to all nations of the world and universally held in respect by them. By virtue of this delegated authority, passed down from one generation to the next ever since the time of Moses our teacher, the master of all of prophets, and by virtue of the succession of authority in Jewish tradition, we appealed to you that you might not fail and thus fail the world, bringing upon it catastrophe." The letter states that the Goldstone Report is an "attack on the State of Israel, and thus an attack on the Jewish People, in order to try to remove it from the stage of history by an unprecedented shedding of blood - tacitly encouraging Iran and those like it to continue to develop weapons of mass destruction while the rest of the world sits by and looks on... We are convinced that the continued discussion of this report, which is lacking all moral basis, will lead the nations of the world, and all of mankind, to the judgment that will take place in Jerusalem in the Valley of Jehoshafat, as written in the Prophets and Torah of Israel."

While Joel 4 is not in the Christian Bible, it is in the Jewsih Bible. For some background on Joel 4, here is the part that the Sanhedrin was talking about:

Joel 4 is then cited: "I will gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshafat; and I will enter into judgment with them there for My people and for My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and divided My land... And the children of Judah and the children of Jerusalem you have sold to the children of the Jevanim, in order to distance them from their border. Behold I will arouse them from the place where you sold them, and I will return your retribution upon your head. And I will sell your sons and daughters into the hands of the children of Judah... Announce this among the nations: Prepare war, arouse the mighty men... Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears... Gather and come, all you nations from around - and they shall gather; there the Lord shall break your mighty men... for their evil is great...

"And the Lord shall roar from Zion, and from Jerusalem He shall give forth His voice, and the heavens and earth shall quake, and the Lord is a shelter to His people and a stronghold for the children of Israel. And you shall know that I, the Lord your God, dwell in Zion, My holy mount, and Jerusalem shall be holy, and strangers shall no longer pass through there.... And Egypt shall become desolate, and Edom shall be a desert waste, because of the violence done to the children of Judah, because they shed innocent blood in their land. But Judah shall remain forever, and Jerusalem throughout all generations."

Well folks, after reading all of this myself it doesn't take a prophet to note that conflict is currently on the way in the Middle East. Despite the Goldstone Report, which the US congress recently rebuked itself, the Bible tells us that in the end times that Israel and Jerusalem will become a burdensome stone, especially Jerusalem. The God of Israel however has declared the future from the beginning to the end so that nothing surprises him. We need to continue focusing on the Middle East and especially Israel as the nations rage to rid the world of Israel so that they can make "peace", but the sad fact is that they are simply deceived by the evil one who plots and plans the destruction of mankind.
