Business: Solo-Entrepreneur

Official Solo-Entrepreneur Expert - Terri Zwierzynski
RSS Feed for This Expert:

Terri Zwierzynski, MBA (UNC-Chapel Hill) became a corporate refugee in 2001, after 15 years of employment with large and small technology companies including GE, AT&T Bell Labs, and Nortel. After her initial shock at being unemployed, she vowed to "never work for an idiot again!"

A non-conformist at heart, Terri Z is now a self employed business strategist and marketing consultant to solo business owners, and a grassroots promoter of the solo entrepreneur lifestyle. She runs www.Solo-E.com, the resource website which attracts thousands of solo and home business owners monthly from over 100 countries on six continents (and was recently named a 2007 finalist for "Website of the Year" in the 4th Annual Stevie® Awards for Women in Business). Terri is also the co-author of 136 Ways To Market Your Small or Solo Business.

Terri’s passion for solo entrepreneurship stems from her conviction that everyone has unique talents to contribute to the world, and should be able to do that while maintaining their personal integrity and their lifestyle. As a wife, mother of two children, and owner of two dogs, she cherishes her ability to decide when to work, when to walk the dogs and when to chaperone a field trip. As a solo entrepreneur, she relishes the freedom of doing work she enjoys for clients she likes and respects.

In her free time, Terri can usually be found harmonizing somewhere with her Sweet Adelines women's barbershop chorus or her quartet, Sapphire!

Background:

Terri has over 20 years engineering and managerial experience in large and small high-technology companies. She is an honors MBA graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a registered professional engineer with an advanced degree in electrical engineering, and in the past held international certifications as a professional in project management and new product development. She holds patent no. 5,963,919, for a revolutionary inventory management strategy evaluation system.

From 1994-2001, Terri worked for Nortel Networks in various business consulting positions, including Operations Logistics, New Product Development, and Executive Business Practices. Her roles included organizational assessment and change management; improving new product development effectiveness through high-performance project teams and organizational structuring; and investment-style decision making (portfolio management) to align new product development to business strategy. She received several corporate awards from Nortel Networks during her tenure.

From 1990-1993, Terri held engineering and marketing management positions at a $20M division of an electronics firm, reversing a 20%/year decline in annual sales while she managed one of the three major product lines of the company. From 1984-1989, she designed digital engine control systems for commercial aircraft at GE Aircraft Engines. During college, she was a student research in the Aerospace Mechanics Division of the University of Dayton Research Institute.

About Solo-E.com

Solo-E.com Mission

Solo-E.com has been dedicated to supporting Solo Entrepreneurs worldwide – self-employed individuals who desire the financial and creative freedom of entrepreneurship without the sacrifice of personal freedom – since 2003. We offer proven, no-hype business advice and marketing techniques from successful Solo Entrepreneur Experts in a variety of virtual learning formats and schedules to fit your Solo Entrepreneur lifestyle!

Solo-E.com Business Principles

  • Discover what you are uniquely talented for and passionate about doing.
  • Do only what you enjoy; delegate or refer everything else.
  • Perfection breeds procrastination. Aim for excellence and listen for the opportunities to improve.
  • Mistakes are just learning opportunities in disguise; our challenge is to unmask them.
  • If you aren’t making mistakes, you aren’t taking enough risks.
  • You can’t be successful alone. Find and embrace others who share your integrity and figure out how you can help each other. Ask for help, and be generous in sharing your learning with others.
  • Work with whom you want, when you want, and charge what you are worth.
  • It is ultimately more profitable to market and run your business with integrity.
  • Say yes to things you really want to do – and be good at saying NO to everything else.
  • Being a Solo Entrepreneur is a fun, all-consuming, joyful existence!

Media Questions:

Testimonials

"As a newcomer to your Web site and wonderful resources, I was totally frustrated after not being able to receive your newsletter and offers. I immediately wrote to you but before I could properly whine, and to my amazement, you put the A-Team right on it and in less than a few hours, all was well again. Make that the E-Team. The Solo-E Team. I couldn't help but ask if you treated all of your customers like a Queen and your reply was, "We get customers one at a time, so we make sure we help them; one at a time."

As far as this Queen is concerned, you have a customer for life because if you will do this for ONE person...then there's no doubt in my mind you'll do it for ALL of your subscribers. Georgia Richardson ~ Alabama, USA ~ www.queenjawjaw.com

“Once I realized that being a solo entrepreneur did NOT mean I had to work entirely alone, I immediately started farming out all the tasks that were clearly not contributing to my success or happiness. Since then, I've increased my income by 100% every year! Thank you Solo-E for your support and contribution to building better lives and businesses for us solo entrepreneurs. The resources, articles, and courses you offer are outstanding and I am proud to be part of your community." Kendall Summerhawk ~ Arizona, USA ~ www.kendallsummerhawk.com

“For the past 5 years I have been out of work and so, home. I have explored, attacked and conquered quite a bit of territory on the net - but I must say that no country on this landscape has been as breathtaking, fresh, invigorating AND life-enhancing as yours at Solo-E.com. Please accept my deep gratitude for your site and your work - I especially loved the 'synchronistic' article about getting out from overwhelm - very helpful!” Biren Shah ~ Baroda, India.

"I think Solo-E and all you offer is quite remarkable and a huge benefit to all entrepreneurs. Becoming a member is one of the best things I’ve done in the past year. Within 2 weeks of joining my database increased quite dramatically. It’s a pleasure working with Terri and Amy. Thank you." Hazel Palache ~ California, USA ~ www.TheAstonishingPowerofYou.com
